How to start manifestation journaling

Manifestation journaling is a way for you to describe your life story, the way you imagine it to be.

When I first heard about manifestation, I thought it sounded ridiculous. That we should just think about what we want to achieve and wait for it to happen. But there is much more to manifestation journaling.

It can help you get a clear vision of your goals, motivate you to push forward, and help you track your progress. Manifestation journaling in the long run helps you focus on what matters most.

You don’t need to journal to manifest. But when you do, it helps. Writing things down makes your goals real. Sitting with a pen and paper helps you see what you truly want. It gives shape to your thoughts and energy to your plans.

What is the goal of manifestation journaling?

The goal of manifestation journaling is to clarify your desires and align your thoughts, emotions, and actions with what you want to attract into your life.

It helps you:

  • Figure out what you really want
  • Shift your mindset
  • Change how you feel and focus your energy
  • Stop putting things off
  • Keep your goals front and center

How to start with manifestation journaling?

All you need is a journal, or you can use one you already have.

There are plenty of guided manifestation journals out there. They’re a good option if you like structure and want a clear way to track your goals.

But if you don’t want to spend any money, a plain notebook works just fine.

Your first steps using a manifestation journal

Here are a couple of steps I followed when I started my manifestation journal:

Set your long-term goals

You can write about your long term and short term goals. But I especially find manifestation journaling useful for longterm goals.

Write in great detail, really imagine the life you would like to have.

write about your desired outcomes as if they had already happened

The more you see your ideal life as if it exists, the more it will become real. Write down your goals/intentions using the present tense. Avoid any words of doubt (think, believe, hope).

Be as specific and detailed as possible.

practice visualization

While writing down your goals and ideas is great, visualization is an even stronger tool.

See what you want to achieve, see your life as if it is happening right in front of you.

The best time for visualization is in the morning. I like to sit on my balcony, close my eyes, and picture it all—what I see, feel, and even smell. The place, the people, the atmosphere, it all becomes real in my mind.

write down any daily changes you need to make

Thinking about your goals is great, but you need a roadmap to achieve them.

What daily habits do you want to introduce in order to reach these goals? Any habits you want to change?

I introduced many changes into my routine in order to try and meet my goals. That is the only way to manifest successfully.

Use positive affirmations

They won’t achieve your goals for you, but they help you build a positive mindset and energy, which makes it easier to take action.

  • I am successful
  • I am strong
  • I have many friends
  • I am loved

How to introduce the habit of manifestation journaling?

Introducing new habits is always hard. But there are a couple of tips that will help you get started:

  • Always start small, with just 10 minutes of writing
  • Do it in the morning so you do not forget about it throughout the day
  • Leave your manifestation notebook on the desk in plain sight
  • Stack your new journaling habit with another one, like your morning coffee
  • Have a checklist that will keep you accountable
  • Create a daily ritual. I like to journal while drinking coffee in the morning. This makes the whole ritual very enjoyable.

Can you manifest anything?

Manifestation isn’t magic.
It works by giving you the confidence and clarity to take the actions that lead to success. It also shifts your mindset and energy in a way that helps you stay focused and motivated.

You can use manifestation in all areas of life—from health and relationships to career and finances. But it only works when paired with effort and realistic thinking.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • You need to set realistic expectations.
  • Writing about your goals isn’t enough; you have to act on them.
  • What matters most is having a clear vision of what you want.

When you take the time to visualize your goals, you start building the mindset needed to achieve them.

We hear this all the time from successful athletes. They imagined winning long before they held the trophy.

Having a clear vision is always the first step.

As a child, I had one goal that stayed with me for years: owning a vacation home by the sea. And I achieved this goal once I earned enough money in my thirties. But I had it in my mind, reliving it over and over, for years.

Final thoughts

For me, manifestation means creating a clear and lasting vision of a goal, one that stays in your mind and helps guide your choices and direction in life.

You can write down your goals in any journal you have. But manifestation is about creating the whole picture, visualizing your ideal life, over and over again.
