Hairmax Laser Cap review
If you’re considering investing in a Hairmax Laser Cap, you probably want to know if it really works and whether it’s worth the price.
After using mine consistently for over three months, I’m sharing my first impressions, experience buying it, and early results in this Hairmax Laser Cap review.
In my previous post about Hairmax, I shared my Hairmax laser comb review, which I’ve had for over 15 years.
This summer, I decided to upgrade and try the Hairmax Laser Cap.
While I’m planning a full update after 6–12 months, here is everything I can share so far.
Why I Decided to Buy the Hairmax Laser Cap
Hairmax devices are not cheap. At the moment, Hairmax sells only one laser cap model, and it costs around $1,699.
When I purchased mine, there were two options:
– an older, more affordable model that required 30-minute sessions,
– and a newer model that promised results with only 7 minutes of use.
I decided to go with the less expensive Hairmax Laser Cap, mainly because I was already investing a lot and wanted to see if it would deliver results before spending more.
After 15+ years of using the Hairmax Laser Comb, I knew the technology itself wasn’t a scam.
It helped my hair feel thicker, made minoxidil absorb better, and supported some new regrowth.
But the comb required me to stand in front of a mirror for 10–15 minutes, slowly moving it through my scalp.
And as a mom of two small kids, that just wasn’t happening. So staying consistent was a struggle.
That motivated me to switch to the Hairmax Laser Cap that fits much more easily into my daily routine.
Key reasons I switched to the Hairmax laser cap
I wanted something more convenient than the comb.
The cap is totally hands-free, so I can work at my computer, read, or move around while using it.
I already had a positive experience with Hairmax technology.
The comb worked well for me in the past, but the routine wasn’t sustainable long term.
I wanted something easier to stick with.
Consistency is the hardest part of any hair growth device. A cap makes that easier.
I preferred a cap over the newer combs.
The goal was convenience first. The cap fit that goal better than upgrading to a newer comb model.
My Buying Experience (And Why I Do Not Recommend Buying From the Website)
My purchase experience with Hairmax was surprisingly stressful.
I ordered through their Shopify store, but I never received a confirmation email, not even in spam.
I contacted Hairmax customer support three separate times, asking for an order confirmation. I never received a response.
The shipping date passed with no updates. I had no tracking number, no reply, nothing.
After 2–3 weeks, the device finally showed up at my door, but with zero communication from the company.
Because of this, I personally don’t plan to order directly from their website again.
If I ever buy another Hairmax device in the future, I will purchase it through Amazon.
First impressions after 3 months of use
Even though the buying experience was frustrating, the device itself has been good so far.
The cap is medium-sized, a bit large on my head, but it still sits comfortably and stays in place.
Here’s my current routine:
I wash my hair, apply minoxidil, and put on the cap. One of the biggest advantages is how easy it is to use while multitasking. I often wear it while answering emails or doing computer work.
I use it three to four times per week. The treatment is painless. The only sensation I feel is a slight warmth on the scalp.
The cap beeps every 10 minutes, which is I assume a reminder to part your hair differently if you want to treat different parts of the scalp. I usually leave it in the same place.
The device also comes with a sturdy storage case. The case is especially useful for keeping it protected.

And it also comes with a cotton cap that you can use to hide the plastic cap with lasers (at the moment, I do not use it).
My Hair Regrowth Results So Far
After 3 months of using the Hairmax Laser Cap, I’ve noticed some regrowth along my part line, though this could also be influenced by my hair loss treatment I’m using.
Laser therapy is not a magic cure. In my experience with the Hairmax Laser Comb, it works best as a supporting treatment, not a replacement for minoxidil.
That means:
– If your hair loss is mild or temporary (due to illness, telogen effluvium), a laser cap may help on its own.
– If your hair loss is more advanced, you will likely need additional treatments.
– The cap is most useful for improving the strength of new baby hairs.
I will update this post after 6 months, which is typically when results become more visible.
Consistency is key. If you tend to have hair or skincare devices lying around unused, this device may end up being more of a waste of money than a benefit.
Make sure you can commit to regular use before investing.
Before You Buy: Who the Hairmax Laser Cap Is and Isn’t For

Who it’s for:
– People already on a treatment plan (minoxidil, supplements, PRP, etc.)
– Those who want a hands-free, easy-to-stick-to device
– People with mild-to-moderate thinning
– Women with androgenetic alopecia or postpartum regrowth issues
– Anyone who wants to boost the effectiveness of their current routine
Who it’s NOT for:
– Anyone expecting instant results
– People unwilling to commit to consistent use
– Those with severe hair loss who are not using any medical treatment
– People who regularly abandon new skin or hair gadgets
I feel that laser caps work best when they’re part of a bigger hair-care strategy.
Pros and Cons of the Hairmax Laser Cap
Pros
– Hands-free and extremely easy to use
– Great for multitasking
– Helps support the strength of new hair growth
– High-quality build
– Noticeable convenience compared to the laser comb
Cons
– Expensive
– Poor customer service on the Hairmax website
– Slow results: like all hair treatments, it requires patience
– Must be used consistently
– Fit may be slightly large for smaller heads
Is the Hairmax Laser Cap Worth It? My Honest Opinion
So far, I would say.
The Hairmax Laser Cap is worth it if you are already using a treatment and want to boost your results or maintain your progress.
It is not worth it if you expect miraculous regrowth or if you struggle with using devices regularly.
Laser therapy takes months, not weeks, to show results.
But the convenience alone makes it far easier to stay consistent compared to the comb.
FAQ: Hairmax Laser Cap Review
How long does it take to see results?
After 3 months, I see some regrowth along my part line. I cannot be sure if this is from the laser cap, because I also use topical minoxidil and spironolactone. But I will update this post after 6 months of use.
Does it hurt?
No. You may feel slight warmth only. In case you feel burning, adjust your part line differently.
Is it safe?
Yes, I haven’t noticed any sideeffects.
Can it replace minoxidil?
In mild hair loss cases, yes. But if you have androgenetic alopecia like me, the answer is no. You need to use it combined with other hair loss treatments.
How often should I use it?
I use it every time I wash my hair, which is about 3 times per week.
Final thoughts
For now, I have no regrets for buying this product. It is easy to use, has no sideeffects, and I did notice regrowth and strenthening of my existing hair.
I wouldn’t call this product a miracle by any means. I think it can be a very useful tool in your hair loss arsenal if you set realistic expectation and use it consistently along with other treatments.
