My Honest Review of the CurrentBody Skin LED Mask: Series 2

This summer in Greece, at 47, I finally realized I needed to upgrade my skincare routine. I’d been reading a lot about red light therapy and debating whether to buy a face mask or a full red light panel that I could use for my hair, face, and body.

My main goals were simple: improve skin texture, lighten dark spots, and soften fine lines.

In the end, I bought the Hairmax Laser Cap for my hair loss and the CurrentBody LED Red Light Mask for my face. (If you’re also dealing with hair loss, you can read my Hairmax Laser Cap review as well.)

I’m still not sure if a panel would have been more cost-effective or more powerful, I’ll only know once I eventually try one. But for now, here is my unsponsored and honest review of the CurrentBody Skin LED Mask.

What is red light therapy?

Red light therapy uses low-level red wavelengths to improve skin texture, boost collagen, and reduce fine lines, scars, redness, and even acne.

I bought the mask mainly for:

  • wrinkles
  • texture
  • dark spots

LED masks are popular because they’re effortless. You literally lie down for 10 minutes while warm, soft light hits your skin. It’s calming and almost meditative.

I haven’t experienced any side effects, just mild warmth and a relaxing sensation.

Why I chose the Currentbody mask

I only considered two masks: Omnilux and CurrentBody.

Both have great reviews, and users on Reddit seem happy with either one. What made me choose CurrentBody were two things:

  • Cost — I live in Europe, so buying CurrentBody was much cheaper than ordering Omnilux from the US and paying extra taxes and shipping.
  • Newer, stronger version — CurrentBody’s Version 2 mask has improved power compared to the original.

So it came down to practicality, price, and availability.

How I use the Currentbody Face Mask

My routine is simple:

I use the mask every other evening for 10 minutes.
I wash my face, let it dry, put on the mask, lie down, close my eyes, and let it do its work.

The mask is flexible, but a bit big for my face. I sometimes press the lower part to make sure the light reaches my jawline.

Other than that, using it is easy and relaxing. It shuts off automatically once the session is done.

My results after using the mask for 3 months

At first I did not notice any changes, other than the fact that the serums and creams I use sank much better. I had to reduce the hydrating products I use, because their effect was somehow amplified.

After a month, I noticed that the dark spot I have from acne is significantly lighter than it was before LED. Now it did not disappear, but is a lot lighter than it is normally.

The second change I noticed is that my face is plumper. Again this could be the result of a cream or face mask I am using, but I am more inclined to believe that this is the result of red light therapy.

What I Don’t Like About the CurrentBody Mask

After using the mask for 3 months, I noticed a couple of things I don’t like:

  • The fit is better for people with larger face
  • The mask is a bit too heavy for me and hurts my nose (leaves a red mark)
  • The battery is not separable from the mask so you cannot replace it if ti breaks down.
  • There is no indication of the battery level so it runs out without you knowing you need to recharge it.

Again these bad sides do not in any way prevent me from using the mask. But you might want to know about them before you decide to purchase the mask.

Is the CurrentBody Mask Worth It? My Honest Opinion

If you have the money and want to treat yourself, then the Currentbody mask is a nice option.

Is it absolutely necessary in your skincare regime? No.

While it is very pleasant and nice to use, I would not consider it an abolute must in my routine.

It gives nice benefits to my skin, but it is not groundbreaking. And you do not need to stretch yourself financially in order to have it.

If you are young, I really don’t think you need this at all and I doubt you will notice much change in your skin. But if you are like me, in your 40s, then this can be a nice addon in your routine.

For me, I see the biggest difference in the texture of my skin and the fading of scars and dark spots.

I also feel like the serums sink in better when I use this mask, my face seems better hydrated and more plump.
