My update after 6 months of use: Hairmax Lasercap review

Back in December, I shared my 3-month Hairmax Lasercap review. Today, I’m back with a follow-up after more than six months of consistent use.

For those who are new here, I’ve been dealing with androgenetic alopecia for over 30 years. It’s been a long journey of trial, error, research, and commitment. Over time, I’ve developed a treatment plan that I’ve followed consistently for years.

My alopecia is mostly under control. Over the past few years, I’ve experienced noticeable regrowth and thickening, especially along my hairline. That alone has made a huge difference in how I feel about my hair.

That said, my hair loss is still noticeable. When I pick up a mirror and take a look at the top of my hair, there are still some see-through areas.

After decades of thinning, some follicles have essentially miniaturized beyond recovery. At this stage, they can’t be reactivated.

Why I purchased the Hairmax Lasercap

I’ve been using the HairMax LaserComb for over 10 years. And when I used it consistently, I saw noticeable results, especially in areas where the follicles are still active.

The problem has never been effectiveness. The problem has been consistency.

Using the comb requires standing in front of a mirror and manually moving it across my scalp for about 15 minutes per session. Some weeks I was disciplined, but often I would skip sessions.

This summer, I decided it was time to upgrade to something more practical, the Hairmax Lasercap. The truth is, my hairloss is not going away, so I might as well invest in something that will help me keep my hair for as long as possible.

My experience using the Hairmax Lasercap

My partner recently asked me, is the helmet thing working?

I paused for a moment. The fact is, I couldn’t really say, “Look at my hair, it’s so thick now.” I am pretty sure people around me might not notice any difference.

Yet, I feel my hair is stronger, and I see a lot of tiny hairs all over my scalp. So I do think it is working, it is just not a miracle tool that will megically regrow your hair.

After 6 months of use I can for certain say that I really like this gadget. Unlike my lasercomb, the lasercap is so much easier to stick to.

I wash my hair every 2-3 days and I apply minoxidil, and put the cap on. I feel it as slightly warming up my scalp, but it is not unpleasant.

However if you microneedle minoxidil, then you can feel a more strong sensation of burning.

So I have used it between 3-4 times per week, very regluraly because it is so easy to put it on your head and go back to work (I work from home).

Should you buy it

Here is where the things get tricky. Whereas I for certain see results with the Hairmax lasercap, the results are not amazing. And for the price of the lasercap, perhaps they should be.

My advice is still the same as after 3 months of use. If you can afford the cap and the price is not an issue, then go ahead and buy it. It will enhance the absorption of your hairloss medication and help the remaining hair on your head get stronger.

But if money is the issue, I say focus on medications. That is where the true regrowth power lies.

I will write another update after 1 year of use. But for now, this is my honest Hairmax Lasercap review.
