CurrentBody LED Face Mask: My Honest 6-Month Update
Last summer, I purchased the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask, and this is a follow-up to my short review from 6 months ago.
Here is some context. I am over 40, my skin is sensitive, and prone to hyperpigmentation.
I bought the mask to address visible signs of aging. I’m not interested in fillers or Botox, so I look for alternatives that support my skin as it ages.
My Experience
First thing I noticed is that the mask did not worsen my melasma in any way. I think it actually improved some of my dark spots.
The second thing I noticed is that the lights are very bright. When I turn the mask on, I cannot really do anything, like reading or watching a TV show. The lights are too bright, and all I can do is lie down and rest.
The third thing to mention is that the mask is not too comfortable for me. It presses on my nose, so again I need to lie down so that it does not feel too heavy and that my nose does not start to hurt.
This could again all be because I didn’t learn how to properly put it on.
I see online that people do exercise with the mask on, or watch shows, or journal. This is not the case for me; I need to lie down and close my eyes. Both because the mask feels too heavy, and because I do not see anything with it on.
The benefits
I feel that it improves my skin tone and overall look of my face when I use it regularly. My face appears more plump, and it reduces dark spots.
The benefits are subtle; it is not something someone else is going to notice.
Do I regret buying it
Here I am undecided. Whereas for my laser cap for hair loss, I feel like it helped my hair growth a lot and I would repurchase it, I am undecided with the CurrentBody skin mask.
I have to admit, I did not use it regularly all the time. And the benefits I see are so subtle that I sometimes wonder if they are worth the money.
That being said, I really like the experience of lying down and closing my eyes for 10 minutes.
I would say if you want to invest in it, go ahead. But do not expect any miracles, and be aware that the mask is helpful but not life-changing in any way.
For example, my sister is not using the mask. Yet I do not see any significant difference between my skin and hers.
She is on a good, consistent skincare routine with Korean skincare products, and I think this routine is more helpful than the mask itself.
My next update
Since I did not use the mask consistently over the past few months, I will write my next update after 1 year of use.
I will make sure to use it regularly so that I can clearly see the benefits long-term.
For now, my advice from the previous post remains. I feel this mask is unnecessary for young people and that they will not see any major benefits. But if you are like me, over 40, you can consider it. With realistic expectations.
